Voice Actor Spotlight: Cameron Bowen

The third Boy Wonder, Tim Drake, is the latest young hero to take on the mantle of Robin. However, this character would be nothing without his phenomenally talented voice actor, Cameron Bowen. With an illustrious career spanning all the way back to his childhood, Cameron has lent his voice to various animated productions over the years. Not only that, but he has also had many ventures on stage as well such as Whistle Down the Wind, Seussical the Musical, and Les Miserables. Today, we at Young Justice TV take a look at some of his most memorable roles in both live-action and animation.

  1. Blue’s Clues: When you use your mind and take a step at a time, you’ll find that Blue’s Clues is one of the most iconic children’s shows to ever grace the screens on Nick Jr. An educational series that teaches kids problem solving and other common life lessons, Blue’s Clues centers around an excitable blue puppy named Blue that helps the viewers find out what she wants to do for the day with the help of paw prints she leaves on specific items called “clues”. One of the major characters who appears much later in the show is Periwinkle, a young kitten from the big city who Blue befriends when he moves to her neighborhood. Even at such a young age, Cameron is able to play this lovable, precocious kitten who loves magic tricks with such likability and genuine charm. Informative, yet highly fun and enjoyable for the whole family, Blue’s Clues is a major staple in many people’s childhoods and continues to entertain many preschoolers to this day.
  2. Injustice 2: Another exciting installment in the DC universe, Injustice 2 is the sequel to the highly beloved video game, Injustice: Gods Among Us, continuing its dark and harrowing storyline involving the ultimate downfall of many DC heroes. The story centers around Batman and his allies attempting to restore society until Brainiac and his nefarious associates force our heroes to combat in an intergalactic war. Cameron voices another ally of Batman in this game, Jason Todd, who has now taken on the moniker of the brutal, fearless Red Hood. An anti-hero with a strict moral code, the newly resurrected Jason Todd uses his new identity to take down enemies without holding back and being more than happy to crack a few skulls. Darker in tone, yet nevertheless an enjoyable adventure with some of our favorite superheroes, Injustice 2 is a game that continues the story of a world where justice has certainly taken a back seat for a more ruthless sense of liberation.
  3. Skylanders: Imaginators: Another installment in this fantasy-based video game franchise, Skylanders: Imaginators is a unique game as players are allowed to customize their characters to meet their imaginative expectations. In order to save their home, the Skylands, our main heroes must stop the evil Kaos who’s attempting to create his own army using the power of Mind Magic. In this game, Cameron’s character is Flare Wolf, a member of the Senseis who teaches Imaginators in Bazooker Battle Class. With his powers that specialize in flame-based attacks and rockets, Flare Wolf is certainly one that nobody wishes to cross unless they want to unleash the full potential of this insanely powerful being.
  4. Lego DC Super-Villains: Reprising his role as Jason Todd from Injustice 2, LEGO DC Super-Villains is a more fun-loving and light-hearted take on the DC universe when compared to the somber, fairly serious Injustice 2. When the Justice League goes missing after a confrontation with Darkseid and the Crime Syndicate of Earth-Two, it’s up to the many villains in DC’s catalog such as the Joker, Lex Luthor, and the Reverse-Flash to find a way to stop the impending apocalypse being brought down by the dark lord of Apokolips. Once again, Cameron lends his talents to voice the relentless Red Hood, but in a much more comedic world. While aimed generally at younger audiences, Cameron is still able to bring much gravitas and emotion to the role of the fallen Boy Wonder who’s gone down a much darker path in life. LEGO DC Super-Villains is a memorable, engaging adventure that takes us through the world seen in the eyes of villains who are forced to take on the role of heroes in such a dire situation.
