Drabble Request #3: Can you make a drabble about the younger YJ team going to some type of party (Halloween, 80’s, 70’s, etc.) and them running into Tim, Steph, and Cissie because Traci, being the kind and pure hearted soul that she is, invited them because she just wants everyone to get along again.
In the list of things that Cassie adored, team get-togethers ranked pretty high. The excuse didn’t matter; a birthday, rough mission, or just a free Saturday night was enough of a reason to have one. It was a cliche, but her team was her family, and she would never grow tired of them.
Of most of them, that is.
Given the success of their Halloween mission, she’d taken the opportunity to throw a little party at her place. What better reason to celebrate than busting a metahuman trafficking hub on a candy-themed holiday? The team was all down, so while everyone popped home to change their clothes and refresh, she found the nearest convenience store and loaded up on the day-after-Halloween candy.
Everyone was in her living room within the hour, each exhausted but satisfied in how the mission had gone. Bart was shoveling handfuls of popcorn into his mouth, listening intently as Jaime and Virgil debated over which Halloween movie to watch. Cassie tuned them out when they started getting into the logistics of stabbing someone, and instead went to sit by Traci.
“You alright?” she asked, curling her legs beneath her and stealing a Snickers bar from the bowl on the table.
Traci looked up from her phone, quickly putting it away. “Yeah, why wouldn’t I be?”
Cassie shrugged, unwrapping the candy. “Hardcore mission. You seem a bit fidgety, so I just want to make sure you’re okay.”
“I’m right as rain,” Traci said with a grin, taking some MnMs and tossing them at the boys. “Will you guys please relax? If you can’t settle down and pick, Cassie and I will pick for you.”
Virgil nodded, crossing his arms and leaning back into the beanbag chair. “Fair enough. Just don’t pick anything too gory, my stomach still isn’t settled from the mission.”
“Do you want some ginger ale?” Cassie asked, already standing up. Virgil always tended to feel queasy after the harder missions, so she was sure to stock up.
Before he could answer, the doorbell chimed. Cassie raised a brow. “Did someone invite M’gann?”
“Like she needs an invite. She probably read the party from our minds,” Bart noted. “Door’s unlocked!”
The door opened, but instead of M’gann, Tim, Steph and Cissie all stood in the doorway, pizza boxes in hand. Cassie was about to ask how they knew, but she knew better. There was only one person who could have invited them.
“You are in so much trouble,” she muttered, glaring at Traci. The younger girl chuckled nervously before clearing her throat.
“Are we late?” Stephanie asked, entering and setting a box of pizza down on the coffee table. “I heard something about a horror movie.”
“Who said you could come in?” Cassie scoffed, narrowing her eyes. “This is a team party only. Last I checked, the three of you aren’t members.”
Cissie pouted, holding up two bags of ghost-shaped marshmallows. “Don’t be like that, Cassie. We miss y’all.” Before Cassie could respond, Traci stood and led her friend over.
“I side with Cissie. Come on, we just had an epic mission, and I want to eat candy and celebrate with my friends. All my friends,” Traci emphasized.
“She does have a good point,” Jaime added, having settled on a movie.
Cassie sighed, knowing she’d be far outvoted on this one. She glanced up at Tim, who held another pizza box. They still hadn’t quite worked things out. But what was one night with her former friends? “Are you going to stand in the doorway all night, or are you going to come in?”
